Mattias was bred by Henk Nijborg from Gieten and is a son of the Grand Prix stallion Comme il faut, who is one of the best show jumpers in the world under Marcus Ehning and won the Brussels Grand Prix, among others. As a son of Cornet Obolensky out of Ratina Z, Mattias' dam Ietrchta I currently stands in Tjeerd Rijkens' sport stable in Elmshorn, her sire Catoki Z was active at the highest level of sport under Philipp Weishaupt and later under Emil Hallundbaek.
Having reached 1.40 m level in sport himself, he attracted attention at the KWPN licensing in 2024 with three sons.
Freaky Calmia passed a very good mare performance test and received the Hanoverian Premium and a star for particularly good performance for the Hanoverian Jumper Program last year. Freaky Calmia's half-sister, the now 8-year-old Chaman daughter Bella Calmia, has already reached 1.45 m level and has won several advanced (S*) level show jumping competitions in 2023, including internationally.
